Man and his reflection in the media mirror of disappearing realities of an artificial paradise. Our realities today are disintegrating, changing. During the pandemic, our life largely spilled over into virtual reality, and the real one has acquired a limited framework, stagnation. Today the network is a kind of artificial paradise where you can escape from reality, admire your reflection and imagine yourself as you want to be or appear.


Maya Popova is a choreographer and a dancer; 2020 Master`s Degree from the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts (direction of preparation Theater Arts, educational program “Studies of Theater and Game Forms of Culture”), 2001-2014, she taught Contemporary Dance at the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. 2007-2011 – taught the discipline “Dance” at the Theater Department of the Baltic Institute of Foreign Languages and Intercultural Cooperation In 1999, she graduated from the Department of Ballet Production at the N.A. Rimsky- Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory. She is a prize and award recipi¬ent of the competitions “Muses of St. Petersburg”, 1998; Competition of Young Choreographers “Vaganova-Prix”, 1998; the F. Lopukhov Competition of Young Choreographers as part of “the Visit” Festival (Saint-Petersburg, 1999). As a choreographer, she participated in staging of shows and projects at drama and music theaters in St. Petersburg: “Buff” Theater, “Children’s Through the Looking Glass” Theater, “Music Hall” Theater, “Theater-Festival Baltic House”. As a dancer and a choreographer, she presented her works at the festivals of contempo¬rary dance “IFMC”, “Open Look”, “Choreografien von Frauen Dance” Festival, “Word and Body”, program “AA” of “the Alternative” Festival and “OKNO”.

She graduated from the Academy of Arts Russian in Saint Petersburg, where she studied art history and theory, and then continued her studies at the New Media program of the Pro Arte Institute. Now she lives in Saint-Petersburg and serves as a curator of video programs and exhibitions for CYLAND Media ArtLab and Sergey Kuryokhin Award and “Videoforma” International video festival. As an artist, she presented her art works at numerous solo and group exhibitions in Russia and abroad, Her works ehxiited at The State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg, Russia); Hermitage Youth Edication Center, Anna Akhmatova Museum (St. Petersburg, Russia); Art reFlex gallery (St. Petersburg, Russia); Al gallery (St. Petersburg, Russia); Iragi Gallery (Moscow), Gislaved Kunsthalle (Sweeden). Participated: St. University Ca’ Foscari (parallel program to the 56th Venice Biennale, Venice, Italy), Manifesta10 Parallel Program “The Other Home” , (St. Petersburg, Russia), “Russia contemporary exhibition”, Galerie Gmurzynska, (Sweetzeland), “Another capital”- NCCA St-Peterburg brunch, (Moscow), “Urbi et Orbi” exhibition, the 6th Moscow Biennale Special Project, Museum Center of RGGU (Moscow).
